Holy Cross Convent Senior Secondary School is a Christian minority institution managed by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, Hazaribagh, a registered charitable society engaged in educational and philanthropic activities throughout India.
The Holy Cross Congregation was founded in Switzerland in 1856 by Rev. Fr. Theodosius Florentini together with Maria Teresa Scherer, the Co-foundress. Inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, the congregation has always worked for education, healthcare, social welfare and the upliftment of society.
Guided by the motto "The Need of the Time is the Will of God", the Sisters dedicate themselves to education, healthcare, care of the elderly, orphanages, social development programmes and various humanitarian services across India.
Holy Cross Senior Secondary School was established on 15 February 2004. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, up to the Senior Secondary level. English is the medium of instruction. The institution promotes co-education and welcomes students irrespective of caste, creed, religion or social background.
The school is entirely self-financed and receives no government or private aid. Student fees remain the primary source of revenue and are revised periodically to meet increasing operational expenses and staff salaries.
The academic session runs from 1st April to 31st March.
